Basic Course for Officers Specialists
Course form: full time intramural studies
Course duration: 16 weeks (1 week for administrative issues, 15 weeks for the course)
Tuition fees: None (tuition funded from the NAF budget)
Training base: NDAL (Rīga), NAF Infantry School (Alūksne) and NAF NCO School (Cēsis)
Language of instruction: Latvian
Training schedule: every working day (Saturdays and Sundays in some cases)
Conditions for admission:
1. Graduates with academic or second level professional higher education in medicine, computer hardware service, computer management, computer science, music, electronics, pharmacy, information technology, law, cyber security, communications science, media studies, psychology, advertising management, public relations, telecommunications, telematics, theology or journalism.
2. Age limit - 39 years for soldiers continuing professional service in the NAF and 54 years for guardsmen continuing service in the National Guard;
3. Health compliance with the requirements for service in the NAF or service in the National Guard;
4. English knowledge in the ALCPT test - 70 points and more.
Objective of the course: to provide an industry specialist with general military knowledge and skills so that the soldier or national guardsman specialist can be integrated into the National Armed Forces (NAF) and the learner would give his or her professional contribution to the NAF after graduating as an officer specialist in the appropriate specialty.
Granting of qualification: graduates of the basic course of an officer specialist receive a certificate of graduation, are awarded the rank of First Lieutenant (for certified doctors - rank of Captain) and continue professional service in the National Armed Forces in their speciality.
